Bupa the elephant.🐘😊✨️☀️💙🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨    Vlog:  https://www.facebook.com/reel/1190724192803911       Bupa, An African savanna elephant (Loxodonta africana) at Colin Tennant in Saint Lucia. 1980: In 1980 John Chipperfield caught Bupa (pronounced “Boopa”), age 4, in Uganda.   Bupa was sold to the Dublin Zoo. 3 years later John Chipperfield found Bupa up for sale and notified Colin Tennant (Lord Glenconner, 3rd Baron- close friend of Princess Margaret), as he was looking for publicity for his new business venture on the island of St. Lucia. Colin purchased Bupa and she was moved from Dublin, Ireland to Longleat, England. Then Bupa, was moved to Tilbury docks where she boarded a Geest Banana boat that was headed for Castries, St. Lucia.   1993: Bupa died circa Nov/Dec 1993 at the age of 17.   While I endeavour to keep the information up to date and correct in this page, I encourage you to do your research on Bupa. ...

Again in 1805… and once more on April 6th, 1813, the capital was nearly wiped out.   On May 14th and 15th, 1927, another devastating blaze destroyed key government buildings.     That day, a small fire quickly spread through the tightly packed wooden buildings of the capital. Fueled by wind, the flames tore across the city in just hours.   Homes, businesses, and historic landmarks were destroyed — including the beloved Carnegie Library, a proud symbol of education and culture.   When the smoke cleared, much of Castries lay in ashes. Thousands were left homeless. Yet from that devastation came rebuilding. Modern Castries rose from the ruins — a powerful testament to Saint Lucia’s resilience....
